SAP’s 50th anniversary celebration by Nicholas Ni

SAP’s 50th anniversary celebration by Nicholas Ni

I composed this piece when I was ten years old for SAP’s 50th anniversary celebration. I wanted to convey the image of a company that has thrived for fifty years, like a mighty river surging forward—weathering storms, merging with new streams and tributaries, yet always moving ahead, full of vitality.

At the time, our home was under renovation, so we were temporarily staying in a hotel. After school, I would return to the hotel, where space to work was limited. My mother enjoyed listening to composer Lo Ta-yu, and I happened to hear his piece “Oriental Pearl,” whose simple yet inspiring melody left a deep impression on me.

Every day on my way to school, I would think about my composition, and eventually, I completed the piece.
